Titel: Almost a dozen slides that represent the most essential pixels from a 793×529 specimen of a photograph of sixteen living men carrying a dead gorilla through a cornfield.
The fascinating element of the assignment was that the work should be based on the photo, but that the copyrighted photograph was not aloud to be used. As a provocation, we selected “the most essential pixels” from the photograph. These pixels we presented in a way that engaged in an exiting relationship with the church where the exposition was held. By changing the context of the selected pixels, the pixels adapted a new form of value.
World Press photo was held from 7 to 27th of November ’08.
